LS & Assembly By-polls: SP nominee leads in UP, TMC in WB & BJP in 6 Guj seats

In Uttar Pradesh,ruling Samajwadi Party is leading in the counting of votes for Handia Assembly by-election. Party's nominee Prashant Kumar Singh is leading above 8000 votes to his nearest BSP nominee Dr. Pankaj Tripathy at the end of 6th round of counting. Polling was held on June 2nd

In West Bengal, Trinamool Congress nominee Prasun Banerjee is leading by over 7000 votes over his nearest CPI(M) rival Sridip Bhattacharya after five rounds of counting of votes in Howrah Lok Sabha by-election.

The counting of votes began amidst tight security this morning. The by-election was necessitated following the death of Trinamool Congress MP Ambika Banerjee

In Gujarat, ruling BJP is leading all 6 seats including 2 Lok-Sabha and 4 Assembly Constituencies when reports last came in.

BJP candidates Mr.Vithalbhai Radadia is leading by more than 60 thousand votes to his Congress rival Mr. Vinubhai Amipara on Porbandar Lok-Sabha seat. Similarly, BJP candidate Mr. Haribhai Chaudhari is leading to his nearest rival of Congress Mrs. Krishnaben Mukeshkumar Gadhavi by more than 55 thousand votes.

Our Ahmedabad correspondent reports that BJP candidates are also leading on all four Assembly seats where by-poll held. Former Minister of State in Gujarat Mr. Kiritsinh Rana is leading to his Congress rival on Limdi Assembly constituency.

BJP candidates on Jetpur, Dhoraji and Morva Hadaf Assembly seats are also leading to their nearest congress rivals. Our correspondent adds that initial trends are big set back for opposition Congress party, which was holding all six seats before the by-elections.
