The Parliament has completed its financial business for the Winter Session of Parliament even as the stand-off between the Opposition and the government over the demand for a JPC probe, continued on the 16 day today. With the return of relevant Railway Appropriation Bills by Rajya Sabha, Parliament today approved the demands for grants of over 1024 crore rupees for the year 2010. The landmark Bill to set-up National Identification Authority was also introduced in the House amid din as the Opposition members continued to disrupt proceedings by raising pitch to press their demand. The house was first adjourned till noon and later till 2.30 p.m. after laying of papers. The Lok Sabha was also adjourned first for an hour in similar circumstances. When the house met again at noon, the Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar appealed to the members to allow private members business and adjourned the house till 3.30 p.m. Both the Opposition and the Congress have blamed each other for the impasse in Parliament and disruption of proceedings. The two sides are also sticking to their respective positions on the issue. While the opposition is not ready to accept anything short off probe by JPC, the government has rejected it outright saying that the demand is politically motivated.
