LS adjourned till noon amid uproar over price rise issue

The Lok Sabha has been adjourned till noon. On the first day of the Budget Session, as soon as the House took up the question hour, members belonging to Trinamool Congress, Congress and Samajawadi Party started raising slogans against the price rise and trooped into the well.

They were demanding suspension of question hour to take up discussion on price rise. The Speaker Sumitra Mahajan tried to persuade them to go back to their seats and help conduct House business smoothly. Mrs. Mahajan

said she has seen the notices given by the members and will take up them only after the question hour is over. However, the agitated members remained unrelenting and Speaker adjourned the House.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced Minister of State Piyush Goyal to the House. Prior to it, Speaker administered oath to Prakash Babanna Hukkeri as member of the House. The House also paid tributes its former member Harbhanjan Lakha who had died last month.

The members also expressed profound sorrow over the people killed in Dibrugarh Rajdhani train accident, GAIL gas leak in Andhra Pradesh, building collapse in Delhi and Chennai. The Rajya Sabha has taken up discussion on price rise suspending question hour.
