Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned, the Lok Sabha till 3 pm and the Rajya Sabha till 2 PM, mainly on Telangana issue. Amidst commotion, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde moved the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill for consideration and passing in the Lok Sabha. Speaker Meira Kumar repeatedly tried to maintain order so that the bill could be taken up for discussion but in vain.
She was forced to adjourn the House for half an hour as slogans by members from various parties continued unabated. Earlier, as the House re-assembled
after its first adjournment, members and ministers from both the
regions of Andhra Pradesh again trooped into the well on Telangana issue. CPIM members also raised slogans in support of undivided Andhra. Members from Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh were also in the well in support of their demands.
In the Rajya Sabha, Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien also adjourned the House till 2 PM after allowing papers to be laid on the table listed in the business of the day.
As soon as the House re-assembled after its hour-long first adjournment, members from Andhra Pradesh rushed to the well raising slogans both in favour and against Telangana. Members from Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party also surged in the well demanding the inclusion of 17 castes in Uttar Pradesh in the Scheduled Castes category.
