LS adjourned for the day & RS till 2pm following uproar over Telangana, other issues

The Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day and the Rajya Sabha till 2 pm on different issues. As soon as the Lok Sabha reassembled at noon, Members from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and some SP Members trooped into the well in support of their demands.

Along with Seemandhra members, Congress members from Telangana also rushed to the podium on Statehood issue. With placards in their hands, they raised slogans either against or in support of their demands.

At the same time, Samajwadi Party members were demanding the introduction of communal violence Bill. They alleged that the Bill was deferred because of pressure from the main Opposition. Shiromani Akali Dal members were also agitated over the 1984 riots. The Members from Tamil Nadu continued to raise the issue of fishermen.

Speaker Meira Kumar allowed the laying of papers amidst noisy scenes. Leader of Opposition, Sushma Swaraj raised the issue of crop loss due to hailstorm in her consituency in Madhya Pradesh. She asked the government to amend the agriculture insurance law regarding compensation to farmers. She said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has written to the Prime Minister on the issue but he has not yet responded.

In the Rajya Sabha, the situation was no different even after the House reassembled after its second adjournment. Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien allowed the laying of papers amidst din.

Members from Andhra Pradesh were in the well raising slogans and showing placards in favour of United Andhra Pradesh. The AIADMK Members protested by tearing the bulletin of the House and tossing the torn bits all over.

Their contention was that the bulletin had reported the names of party members who did not troop into the well on Friday. Amidst unruly scenes, the Deputy Chairman adjourned the House till 2 P.M.
