LS adjourned for the day, RS till 2 pm over coal block

The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day and the Rajya Sabha till 2 PM today on the coal block allocation issue amidst continued slogan shouting by the BJP members who have been demanding the Prime Minister's resignation. Earlier, both the Houses were adjourned for one hour till Noon. When the Lok Sabha reassembled after its first adjournment, there was no let up in the situation. However, Speaker Meira Kumar asked ministers and other members to lay their statements and reports of the Parliamentary standing committees on various ministries. Amidst the din, the House also passed two bills. The Rajya Sabha also witnessed uproarious scenes when the House met after its first adjournment. Amidst the din, Deputy Chairman P J Kurien allowed the laying of statements by the ministers and reports by the members, heading different standing committees. He also asked the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Sudip Bandyopadhyay, to table his statement in response to a Calling Attention notice on the situation arising out of the casualties during clinical trials. Earlier, when the Rajya Sabha met for the day, Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari took up the Question Hour amidst the din. The Minister of State in PMO, Mr. V. Narayanasamy, insisted on replying to the first question relating to the time limit for action against corrupt officials. He said it is an important question and is ready to answer. He said the people of this country should know what action the government has been taking on combating corruption.
