Proceedings in both the Houses of Parliament were paralysed for the tenth day today, following a stalemate between the government and the BJP over the issue of coal blocks allocation. The Lok Sabha was adjourned finally for the day as BJP members continued to shout slogans in the well of the House demanding Prime Minister's resignation. Some DMK members were also seen displaying placards asking the Centre to stop training the Sri Lankan Army personnel in India. Amidst the din, however, the House could pass the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) Bill, 2010
which seeks to declare the Bangalore-based hospital as an Institution of National Importance.
The Rajya Sabha, which witnessed two adjournments in the pre-lunch session, was adjourned till 4 pm amid the opposition uproar over the issue. The agitating BJP members continued to shout slogans despite the appeal by Deputy Chairman P J Kurein for calm. He observed that the House cannot pass important Bills if the members continued shouting in the well.
