Afghanistan’s lower house of Parliament has rejected the annual budget, setting off further confrontation with the Afghan government led by President Hamid Karzai. <br/><br/>A total of 115 MPs out of 122 present, voted against the budget proposal saying there was discrimination in allocation of development spending for some provinces. <br/><br/>House Chairman asked the finance ministry to resend its plan after suitable amendments. A finance ministry official expressed surprise at the rejection saying the MPs demands could have been conveyed through a letter. <br/><br/>The lower house of Parliament has earlier rejected majority of cabinet members proposed by Mr. Karzai and a revised electoral law last week.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, five suicide bombers were arrested today in capital city of Kabul. Interior Ministry said in a statement that the militants were equipped with explosives and suicide vests. It said two suicide vests and a container packed with explosives were recovered from their vehicle. <br/><br/>The militants have recently intensified their commando-style attacks, which involve several suicide bombers attacking government and soft targets simultaneously.
