In Odisha, many low lying areas in northern parts of the state are marooned in flood water even as water is receding in major rivers like Budhabalanga, Subarnarekha and Jalaka in flood-hit Balasore district. Moreover a low pressure area has formed over north west Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and north Odisha.More than 50,000 people in 25 villages in Remuna and sadar blocks of Balasore district have been surrounded by floodwaters of Budhabalanga and its tributary Sono for the last two days.There are no reports of any human casualty from the district, while cattle and domestic animals like goats and sheep have been swept away in the flood water. Paddy and vegetable crops in about 12,000 acres of agricultural land have been damaged.
