An earthquake of 5.1 magnitude hit the southern Philippines this morning. The United States Geological Survey said the quake, at a depth of 77.9 kilometers, was recorded at 5:16 a.m. with its epicenter at 230 kilometres southeast of Davao City, Mindanao region. The tremor was felt in cities of General Santos and Hinatuan, among others. No casualties or damage were immediately reported.
