Lorry owners of southern states including Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have resorted to indefinite strike from today. They are demanding withdrawal of insurance premium hike, RTO fee rise, VAT increase on diesel and petrol and rationalizing of toll fee collection. AIR correspondent reports that more than 15 lakh lorries and trucks in southern states of Tamil Nadu Karnataka and Andhra are off the roads because of the strike. <br/><br/>The strike in Kerala has been postponed to tomorrow because of tenth exam today. Lorry owners urge that insurance premium hike should be immediately withdrawn. They also they demand the withdrawal of vat increase on diesel and petrol in Tamil Nadu. <br/><br/>Transport of essential items, vegetables, eggs in all parts of Tamil Nadu including Namakkal, Tiruchitapalli Salem has been badly hit. Lorry strike will lead to loss of Rs 600 crore daily according to lorry owner association.
