London Mayor pushes for 'associate' EU citizenship

<span style="color: #222222;">London's Mayor Sadiq Khan today pushed the idea of an associate European Union citizenship for Britons after Brexit. He presented the idea during his visit to Brussels to see officials including the bloc's Chief Negotiator Michel Barnier. Mr Khan said, many Londoners are heartbroken that they have left the European Union but they still very much feel part of the European family.<br />''<br />'' The idea of associate EU citizenship was floated last year by the European Parliament's pointsman on Brexit Guy Verhofstadt, as a nod to the close relations Britain nurtured with EU counterparts over the 47 years it was in the bloc.<br />'' <br />''A withdrawal agreement struck late last year by Britain excludes such an arrangement.</span><br />
