Government today said the Lokpal bill is pending with the Standing Committee of Parliament, as a result there is some delay in the appointment of the anti-corruption watchdog Lokpal. <br/><br/>Replying to the allegation by K C Venugopal of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely said that once the bill comes back from the Committee, the government will proceed on it. <br/><br/>Earlier, while referring to government's statement in the Supreme Court that Lokpal cannot be appointed as of now, Mr. Venugopal alleged that the government is delaying it. In the Apex Court, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi had said changes in the selection committee for the Lokpal have yet to be cleared by Parliament and the appointment cannot be done right now.
