Lokpal Bill: Congress hopes TMC will lend support in Rajya Sabha

Government today expressed hope that Trinamool Congress will lend support to Congress for getting the Lokpal Bill through the Rajya Sabha.

This was stated by Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office, V Narayansamy while talking to reporters outside Parliament today.

He said, it is the collective responsibility of all the political parties to get the strong and effective Bill cleared in the Upper House.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla said that Lok Sabha has passed a historical Lokpal Bill. He said that UPA is not in majority in the Rajya Sabha but it is trying its level best to get the Bill passed in the Upper House.

On the other hand, BJP has said that it will bring amendments for certain clauses to make the Lokpal Bill more effective. Party spokesperson Tarun Vijay said that the Bill passed by the Lok Sabha, has some loopholes.
