In Uttar Pradesh, the Lokayukta Justice NK Mehrotra on Monday recommended removal of Ambedkar Gram Sabha Development Minister Ratan Lal Ahirwar from the Mayawati Government. He has written a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard.Justice Mehrotra told AIR Lucknow correspondent that several charges of corruption against the Minister including misuse of Bundelkhand Development Fund, MLA fund, grabbing Gram Sabha land for construction of a school in the name of his family member, amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income and not removing his possession from a land grabbed illegally, have been proved correct. The Lokayukta has also noted that accused Minister was also awarded one year imprisonment from a local court in Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh.AIR Correspondent reports that Lokayukta had sought report from District Magistrate Jhansi on the allegation of corruption against the Minister who is an MLA from Babina in Jhansi. Ahirwar is the fifth Minister of the state who has been indicted by the Lokayukta for corrupt practices. Chief Minister Mayawati has so far sacked four ministers including Rajesh Tripathi, Awadhpal Singh, Rangnath Mishra and Badshah Singh after their indictment by Lokayukta for corruption.Several other Ministers from Mayawati Government are also under Lokayukta scanner. They include Energy Minister Ramveer Upadhyaya, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Lalji Verma, Agriculture Minister Laxmi Narayan, Higher Education Minister Rakesh Dhar Tripathi, Small Industries Minister Chandra Deo Ram Yadav, Horticulture Minister Narayan Singh and Sports Minister Ayodhya Pal. Besides, complaints were also pending against several MLAs and Chairmen of state owned Corporations.
