In Uttar Pradesh, the Lokayukta Justice N.K. Mehrotra has initiated preliminary inquiry against Agriculture Minister of Mayawati government Choudhary Laxmi Narain against whom complaints of land grabbing, disproportionate income and illegal appointments of relatives and family members in the government job have been received. Justice Mehrotra has said that the two complaints against the Minister have been made. The Lokayukta has sought report from the District Magistrates of Mathura and Kanshiram Nagar. A report has also been sought from Principal Secretary Agriculture about allegation of misuse of funds for drought relief to the districts during the year of 2007to 08 and 2008- 09.The Lokayukta has asked the officials to file their replies by 24th of this month.AIR correspondent reports that a total of 17 public representatives including 7 Ministers of the state are under Lokayukta scanner.
