Lok Sabha: Union Minister Amit Shah moves motion to send Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill 2022 to Joint Committee of both House

<span style="color: #222222;">The Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill 2022 has been referred to Joint Committee of both Houses of Parliament. In the Lok Sabha today, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah moved a motion to send the Bill to the Committee. The Joint Committee will comprise 21 Lok Sabha and 10 Rajya Sabha members. He said the Committee will submit its report by the last day of the first week of second part of Budget session next year. Earlier, several Opposition parties had demanded to send the Bill to the Parliamentary Committee for further scrutiny.<br />''       <br />'' The Bill which was introduced in the House earlier this month seeks to amend the Multi-State Cooperatives Societies Act, 2002. It is intended to improve governance and enhance transparency and accountability in Multi-State Cooperative Societies. Provisions for setting up of Cooperative Election Authority, Cooperative Information Officer, and Cooperative Ombudsman have been proposed in the amendment.</span><br />
