Lok Sabha takes up discussion on demands for grants under Road Transport and Highways for 2019-20

<span style="color: #222222;">The Lok Sabha today took up the discussion on demands for grants under Road Transport and Highways for 2019-20. Initiating the debate, K Muraleedharan of Congress alleged that Kerala has not been included in the priority list of highway development. He urged the Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to complete the construction of pending roads in Kerala and to start the new national highway. Dushyant Singh of BJP highlighted how the present government at the Centre is giving thrust on infrastructure development of the country. </span><br />''<br />''He said, Road Transport and Highways Minister gave a push to projects worth three lakh crore rupees which was pending earlier. Prof Saugata Roy of TMC said, there are still lot of things to be done to develop road technology. Demanding greater allocation of funds for construction of roads in Andhra Pradesh, Geetha Viswanath Vanga (YSRCP) urged the government to provide special focus on road safety.<br />''<br />''Shrirang Appa Barne of Shiv Sena demanded the government<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">to set up a high-level committee to expedite clearances to ensure speedy construction of roads.
