In the post lunch session, initiating the discussion under the Rule 193, the DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi asked the Centre to extend financial help to the States to fight climate change. She said, despite the severity in the climate change problems, the Union government has reduced the budget to the tune of 230 crore rupees. She suggested the Government adopt best available models to improve economic activity while protecting the environment.</span><br />''Congress leader in the House Adhir Ranjan Chowdhuri accused that the Centre has been under-reporting the climate change adversities in the country. He suggested the Government should act on improving the status of many most polluted cities in India. AITC MP Dr Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar appealed to the Centre for funds to save Sundarban in West Bengal, on which 7.5 million people are dependents.<br />''<br />''BSP MP Ritesh Pandey said, there is a need for energy consumption to uplift the downtrodden with developmental activities.
