Thirty Opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) of Lok Sabha have been suspended for the remaining part of the Winter Session for their unruly behaviour in the House. They include Congress leaders Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and Gaurav Gogoi, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee and Saugata Roy, DMK leaders TR Baalu, A Raja, and Dayanidhi Maran, and Kaushlendra Kumar of JD(U). He said that despite repeated appeals by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla not to display placards, the opposition members continued to do so. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi moved two motions to suspend the protesting MPs for their grave misconduct in the House. The motions were adopted with a voice vote.
''
''Meanwhile, Congress has come down heavily on the Government over the suspension of MPs. Talking to media outside Parliament, party MP Gaurav Gogoi said, it is an attempt to muzzle the voice of Opposition. He alleged that the fundamental rights of the people have been crushed. He wondered while no action has been taken against BJP MP Pratap Simha on whose recommendation the visitor passes were issued to the intruders who breached the Lok Sabha security, the action had been taken against the MPs for raising voices over the security issue.
''
''Countering the Opposition, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said, the Government is ready for discussion on any issue but the Opposition created ugly scenes in the House. He alleged that the Opposition is insecure and they have no issues left to raise against Narendra Modi's Government.
''
''Last week, 13 Lok Sabha MPs and one Rajya Sabha MP were also suspended from the House for their unruly behaviour.
