Lok Sabha Speaker convenes all party meeting tomorrow to break the impasse in Parliament over the JPC issue

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has convened an all party meeting tomorrow as a fresh initiative to break the impasse over the JPC issue. Official sources said that dialogue has been spread till Friday keeping in view the availability of leaders due to short notice for the meeting. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj has said that BJP would participate in the meeting. She, however, asserted that the party remains firm on its demand for a JPC. AIR correspondent reports that the Lok Sabha Speaker aims at finding a common meeting ground to bring about a compromise between the opposition, which is insisting upon the constitution of a JPC to probe the 2G spectrum scam and the government which maintains that the PAC is competent enough to handle the matter. Though, the Government remains opposed to the JPC demand, it is keen on creating a congenial atmosphere ahead of the Budget Session, due in the third week of February.
