Lok Sabha Speaker convenes all-party meet today

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has convened an all-party meeting this evening to end the logjam in the house on Lalit Modi controversy and Vyapam scam. The meeting will discuss better functioning of the proceedings, which have been virtually washed out in the Monsoon Session so far following the opposition parties' stance on the issue. It comes close on the heels of Congress members showing placards in the house despite being warned not to do so by the chair.

On Monday, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had climbed on the podium of the Speaker's dais and banged a placard on it. Upset over it, Ms Mahajan had asked him to leave the House and named him in a statement for disregarding the authority of the chair. Congress members are also protesting over alleged blackout of the opposition protests by Lok Sabha TV.
