Lok Sabha resumes discussion on Supplementary Demands for Grants

<span style="color: #222222;">Lok Sabha has resumed discussion on the first batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2022-23 and Demands for Excess Grants for 2019-20. Under the Supplementary Demands for Grants, the Government has sought Parliament's nod to the approval of gross additional expenditure worth around 4.36 lakh crore rupees for the current fiscal.  <br />''<br />''The proposals for grants include net cash outgo aggregating to over 3.25 lakh crore rupees and gross additional expenditure, matched by savings of the Ministries and Departments or enhanced receipts aggregating to over 1.10 lakh crore rupees. The highest amount of 1.09 lakh crore rupees has been sought towards fertilizer subsidy payout. Under the first batch, approval has also been sought for meeting additional expenditure of around 80 thousand 348 crore rupees towards food subsidy and additional allocation under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.<br />''<br />''Participating in the discussion, Mahua Moitra of TMC has accused the Government of not achieving the goals of a cashless digital economy as well as phasing out fake currency after six years of demonetization.  AM Ariff of CPI(M) has alleged that not a single paise out of the loans taken by the poor people has either been written off or their interest waived by the stimulus packages. ET Mohammed Basheer of IUML raised the issue of unspent or underspending budgetary allocations toward various schemes.<br />''<br />''Taking part in the discussion Jagdambika Pal of BJP said, supplementary grants are part of the budget and this situation has arisen because of the high subsidy Bill which is being given to farmers, particularly for fertilizer whose prices rose after the Ukraine war. Congress MP from Idukki in Kerala, Advocate Dean Kuriakose demanded that the Government should give subsidies on cattle feed also and cattle farming should be included in MGNREGA.<br />''<br />'' Imtiaz Jalil of AIMIM alleged that this Government has different rules for the poor and rich. Kaushalendra Kumar of JDU raised the issue of unemployment during the discussion. BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali alleged that the Government is favouring the corporate sector only. Taking part in the discussion NCP MP Supriya Sule said that it is not right to say that the State government did not work well during the COVID period. TDP MP K Ram Mohan Naidu appealed for the Centre's intervention to get the salaries for government employees in Andhra Pradesh. He also said, privatizing the profit-making Vizag Steel Plant has to be withdrawn.<br />''<br />''Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, the country is undergoing stagflation. He said One nation One fertilizer is against the recommendation of the Standing committee and discourages the fertilizer making companies from better services to the farmers. He demanded the Government make the outcome and achievements of demonetization public.</span>
