Lok Sabha resumes discussion on Motion of Thanks to President Droupadi Murmu's address to joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament

Suspending the Zero Hour and the Question Hour, Rajya Sabha today resumed discussion on the Motion of Thanks to President Droupadi Murmu's address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament. Participating in the discussion, BJP MP Surendra Singh Nagar said that massive infrastructural projects got completed under the present Government. He accused the previous UPA government of not fulfilling the promises made under their regime. He said, whatever Narendra Modi's Government had promised they have fulfilled it.<br />''<br />''He also accused the UPA government of various scams in their tenure. During his speech, heated arguments were witnessed between the treasury and opposition benches. Amid the noisy scenes, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed displeasure over the behaviour of some of the members. Participating in the discussion, Leader of Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Government and demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani Group issue. He said, business group assets increased manifold in a very short span of time. <br />''<br />''Mr. Kharge's remarks were objected to by the Treasury bench. Leader of the House Piyush Goyal said, whatever allegations Mr. Kharge is levelling are baseless and he should be asked to authenticate it on the floor of the House. He said, the Government has no role in the Adani Group issue and it is the job of the regulators to look into this matter. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar also asked the Leader of the Opposition to authenticate his allegations. He said, it cannot be allowed to use loose expressions in the House. During Mr. Kharge's speech, heated arguments were witnessed between the Treasury and Opposition benches. <br />''<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Mr. Kharge raised the issue of price rise to target the government. He also accused the government of using central agencies to silence the voice of dissent and topple the opposition governments. Mr. Kharge raised the issue of unemployment in his speech. Jawhar Sircar of TMC raised concern about the role of the country's regulators in the Adani Group matter. He also raised the issue of low expenditure towards the health sector. Prof. Manoj Kumar Jha of RJD raised the issues of Jammu and Kashmir, corruption, human right violation and Agniveer.  Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharya of CPI (M) raised questions about the infrastructural projects in the Joshimath saying that it has destroyed the ecological balance of the area.<br />''<br />''Participating in the discussion, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale said, developmental policies taken by this government have taken care of all. Vivek Thakur of BJP said, this government has taken a series of measures for the farmers, poor and labourers. He said, over two lakh crore rupees have been provided under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to the farmers.<br />''<br />''NR Elango of DMK, Niranjan Bishi of BJD,  KC Venugopal of Congress, Abir Ranjan Biswas of TMC, Sandosh Kumar P of CPI and others also participated in the discussion. Discussion is underway.<br />''<br />''Earlier, the Chairman disallowed the adjournment notices moved by AAP, BRS and Shiv Sena (UBT) members. Mr. Dhankhar said, the notices are not in order. After this, opposition members of AAP, BRS and others stood on their feet and started demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani Group issue. Later, members from AAP, BRS, Left, and Shiv Sena (UBT) staged a walkout from the House.</span><br />''<br />
