The Lok Sabha resumed discussion on the flood situation in different parts of the country post-lunch. Participating in the debate, Narasimham Thota of TDP said, the heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh has claimed several lives and led to the damage to the properties. <br/><br/>He urged the Centre to immediately release 1000 crore rupees as an advance to the State from National Disaster Relief Fund. P K Sreemathi Teacher of CPI(M) stressed on the need to have a proper town planning based on scientific method to deal with situation of natural disaster. <br/><br/>Rajamohan Reddy of YSR also urged the Centre to send a team to Andhra Pradesh to asses the damage caused by rains. Earlier initiating the discussion, T G Venkatesh Babu of AIADMK demanded adequate assistance from the centre for the flood affected Tamil Nadu to deal with the situation. He said, the flood has caused numerous loss of lives and damage to property in the State.<br/><br/>Participating in the discussion, Sudip Bandhopadhyay of the TMC alleged that the Central government is not releasing funds on time to the affected states. He said, the states like West Bengal which has problem of drought as well as flood, many a times are not able to manage the situation on their own due to paucity of funds. <br/><br/>BJD member Bhartruhari Mahtab said there is a need to strengthen the forecast system in coastal areas and sought release of funds to Odisha to develop adequate infrastructure and sewage system.
