Lok Sabha has passed the motion of thanks on President’s address to joint sitting of Parliament by voice vote rejecting all amendments moved by the opposition.
Replying to discussion on the motion Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that his government will not function merely on the basis of numerical strength but collectively. Seeking cooperation of the entire house in fulfilling the aspirations of the poorest of the poor he said criticism is strength of the democracy and his government will take it in positive manner.
He said government should work for the poor and it will be top priority of his government. He said that implementation of welfare schemes should not be made as government schemes rather development should be made a mass movement with the participation of each and every one.
He said Presidential address is not a ritual for the new government and it will try its level best to implement announcements outlined in the address. Referring to recent incidents of crimes against women in different parts of country, the Prime Minister said the tough decisions are required instead of psychological analysis by the political leaders. Emphasising the need of skill development to address the issue of unemployment Modi said that importance of labour should be understood and labourer should be honoured in the society.
He said India is fortunate that it has 65 percent youth population of below the age of 35 yeas. He said it can be converted into a big asset which can be exported to other countries which are dire need of skilled man power. He said similarly India can provide science and mathematics teachers to different countries. The house has been adjourned sine die after passing the motion.
