<span style="color: #222222;">The Lok Sabha has passed the Homoeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Bill, 2019 which seeks to extend the period for reconstitution of the Central Council from existing period of one year to two years so that the tenure of the Board of Governors may be extended for a further period of one year.<br />'' <br />'' The extension will be effective from 17th May, 2019. The bill will help the Central Council of Homoeopathy in exercising the powers and performing functions of the Council.<br />'' <br />'' Replying to a debate on the bill, Minister of Ayush,  Shripad Yesso Naik said that the bill will replace the ordinance promulgated earlier and will also prevent the opening of substandard courses in homoeopathy colleges.<br />'' <br />'' He said the legislation will help ensure transparency in the functioning of the Council. He said,  32 new Homoeopathy colleges have been opened after 2014 and now 236 are functional. He said the legislation will ensure the smooth functioning of the colleges.<br />'' <br />'' He also informed the House that a proposal related to setting up of Ayush hospitals in 150 districts have been cleared.<br />'' <br />'' Earlier, initiating the discussion, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of Congress opposed the ordinance route taken by the government saying that there was no urgency for it. Manoj Rajoria of BJP allayed the concerns of the opposition saying that he is himself a Homoeopathy doctor and the government is moving on the right path of reforming the homoeopathy council.<br />'' <br />'' He said this will enhance the quality education in the field of homoeopathy. Aparupa Poddar of TMC said that the newly formed Board of governors had no homoeopathy doctors as members and there was no selection criteria followed in the Board which is against the spirit of democracy.<br />'' <br />'' She said since last one-year homoeopathy institutions are facing problems as permissions are denied. Farooq Abdullah of National Conference stressed upon the need for Homoeopathy doctors updating themselves with the latest developments taking place in the field of homoeopathy and research activities.<br />'' <br />'' He said the government should promote homoeopathy and give maximum funding so that the people will have faith in homoeopathy. Anubhav Mohanty of BJD sought the details of actions taken against the corrupt officials working in the council. N K Premachandran of RSP said that recognition of homoeopathy institutions has been delayed for the past many years.</span><br />''  

<span style="color: #222222;">The Lok Sabha today passed the Homeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Bill 2018 which replaces the ordinance which was promulgated on 18th of May this year by the President of India. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Bill amends the Homeopathy Central Council Act, 1973 which sets up the Central Council of Homeopathy, CCH. The Central Council regulates homeopathic education and practice.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Replying to a debate on the Bill, Minister for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik said, the members of the board of governor will replace the existing functionaries of the CCH and it will be comprised of seven persons of eminence in the field of homeopathy education and eminent administrators. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said, the tenure of the board will be for one year. The Minister said, the Government brought the Ordinance to avoid further delay of appointment of members as elections were delayed due to administrative reasons.</span><br />''  <br />
