The Lok Sabha today passed a bill allowing doubling of wage ceiling for calculating bonus to<br/>Rs 7,000 per month from Rs 3500 for factory workers and establishments with 20 or more workers. The Payment of Bonus (Amendment) Bill, 2015, seeks to raise the eligibility limit for payment of bonus from a salary of Rs 10,000 to Rs 21,000 a month. Replying to a debate on the legislation, Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said the Government has ensured that the interest of workers are protected and there is no infringement on their rights. He also said, the government is converging the current 44 labour legislations into four codes for the benefit of labourers. <br/><br/>He said, government today said it will soon introduce a bill to provide for mandatory national minimum wage to the workers. He said, the government. will go ahead with labour reform measures to protect the interests of workers.
