Lok Sabha expresses concern over RO use to purify drinking water

<span style="color: #222222;">Members of Lok Sabha expressed concern over the use of Reverse Osmosis (RO) system to purify drinking water, as this system of purification removes most of the vital minerals like Calcium, potassium.<br />'' <br />'' Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar during the Question Hour said that the National Green Tribunal in its order in the month of May this year has directed the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to issue appropriate notification prohibiting use of RO where TDS in water is less than 500 mg/l.<br />'' <br />''<br />''Minister also said that even before RO systems were being used, there were other systems of purification of water was in vogue. Minister said that there are two-three other systems of purification available even now. Minister also said that there is a deficiency of water in the country and we cannot afford to waste them.</span><br />
