The Election Commission has changed the Lok Sabha election date for Goa and one seat in Jharkhand due to religious festivals, following popular demands. A press note issued by the Election Commission says, the polling for the two Lok Sabha seats in Goa will take place on the 12th of April instead of the 17th as it coincides with Maundy Thursday, one of the most solemn religious celebrations of the Catholic Church.
The date of polling in Hazaribagh constituency in Jharkhand has been postponed from April 10 to April 17 in view of the festival of Ram Navami festival.
