Lok Sabha discusses motion of thanks to President's Address

The Lok Sabha today initiated a discussion on the motion of thanks to the Presidential Address to joint sitting of the both the Houses of Parliament. Initiating the discussion in the House, Meenakshi Lekhi of BJP said the aim of the NDA government is to reach out to the poorest of the poor. <br/><br/>She said, the government has recently launched a new Crop Insurance Scheme called Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for the welfare of the farmers. She said, under the scheme farmers can get compensation in case their crops got damaged in any kind of disaster. <br/><br/>Ms Lekhi also mentioned about the recently concluded Make in India Week in Mumbai which attracted projects worth eight lakh crore rupees. She said, the new projects are expected to generate about two lakh jobs. She said, the Prime Minister wants to make India a manufacturing hub through his ambitious Make in India programme. She said, the NDA government has taken several steps to deal with corruption.<br/><br/>Participating in the debate Union Minister and Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that the government has taken several steps for the development of the nation and welfare of the poor. <br/><br/>She said, since NDA government came to power, the Narendra Modi led government taken various initiatives in various sectors. She said, through the auction of coal blocks, the government has earned a revenue of over three lakh crore rupees and through spectrum allocation it earned over one lakh rupees. The discussion remained inconclusive.
