The members presenting their views on various road projects pointed out at the speed at which they are constructed. They also appreciated the efforts made to reduce road accidents and construction of elevated highways and under bridges to eliminate the dark spots.<br />'' <br />'' Participating in the discussion, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury pointed out that the road infrastructure has not grown in accordance with the growth in population and vehicle density. He also alleged that the Government has failed in containing road accidents by saying that even now accidents occur every hour. He added that the road accident victims are unable to get treatment within the golden hour due to the lack of trauma centres near the highways.<br />'' <br />'' Congress member Manish Tewari requested for a road to connect Anandpur Sahib and Harmindar Saheb. Pratap Simha, BJP MP from Mysuru said that the national highways in Karnataka have doubled in the last seven years. He also thanked minister Nitin Gadkari for sanctioning the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway.<br />''<br />''Dr. Nishikant Dubay emphasized on-road linkage to Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan so that commercial activities could be augmented. Another BJP member Balak Nath requested the Road Transport Minister to direct the toll collecting companies to improve tree plantation beside the highways and improve the drainage system.</span>
