The Lok Sabha has congratulated the Indian contingent for its brilliant performance at the 16th Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said India, in its best ever performance at the Asian Games, won 14 Gold, 17 Silver and 33 Bronze medals and stood sixth in the overall medals tally. The members conveyed their best wishes to all the athletes in their future endeavours. The Speaker said the House applauds all the sportsmen and sportswomen who, while displaying the highest standards of sportsmanship, brought laurels and glory to the nation at these Games.
