The Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 2 PM amidst uproarious and scenes heated exchanges over the Enemy Property Amendment Bill. The moment the Bill was taken up for consideration in the House, the BJP members were up on their feet. The leader of the Opposition Mrs. Sushma Swaraj said that they will allow the Bill only it is discussed in its original form and not along with the amendments listed by the government. This was strongly objected to by the members of the Samajwadi Party and RJD. Mrs Swaraj also wanted the Bill to be referred to the Standing Committee saying that if the government brings amendments it becomes a new Bill. As the ruckus continued and nothing could be heard in the din, the House was adjourned till 2 PM.Earlier, Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned till noon following pandemonium over the alleged misuse of Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, by the government. They BJP alleged that a senior IPS official is being pressurised by the CBI in one of the cases forcing the official to approach Supreme Court. Raising the matter in the Lok Sabha, the leader of the Opposition Mrs. Sushma Swaraj while accusing the government of misuse of the premier investigating agency, wanted a discussion on the functioning of the CBI. Mrs. Swaraj alleged that the government is targetting the Opposition leaders through CBI. She demanded extension of the House for one more day to debate the issue. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal strongly rejected the opposition charge saying that its allegations are without any basis. He said that CBI is an autonomous body and the government has never ever misused the investigating agency. Even as Mr. Bansal was speaking, the members from BJP and Shiv Sena trooped into the well of the House and started shouting slogans. Mr. Bansal said that this only goes to show that the opposition is not interested in debating the issue but wants to disrupt the proceedings. As noisy scenes continued the Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar adjourned the House till 12 O clock. In the Rajya Sabha, the leader of the Opposition Mr. Arun Jaitley charged the government with politicising the CBI. He also wanted the government to respond to the reports appearing in media on threats to politicians belonging to opposition parties. While rejecting the opposition charge as baseless, the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Prithviraj Chavan said that the government is willing to discuss the issue. The agitating members however trooped into the well of the House and the Chairman of the House Mohd. Hamid Ansari adjourned the House till noon.
