The Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 2 P.M on the appointment of Lok Ayukta in Gujarat and Harin Pandya murder case. The House was first adjourned till 12 noon after the BJP members trooped into the well of the House to protest against this process. As the House met at 12, the BJP raised the issue of Lokayukta again. The Congress members accused the BJP of being responsible for the murder of the then Home Minister Harin Panday. This led to heated exchanges between the BJP and Congress members forcing the adjournment of the House. Raising the issue in the zero hour, the NDA Chairman L.K. Advani questioned the appointment of Lokayukta. He urged the Centre that federal structure of the country must be maintained and said that they will take up the issue with the President as well. The issue of appointment of Lokayukta in Gujarat was taken up in the Rajya Sabha by the Leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley. He said the step is against the spirit of the Constitution. Nothing could be heard in the din, leading to the adjournment of the House.
