Lok Sabha adjourned sine die

The Lok Sabha on Tuesday (2nd July 2024) adjourned sine die. After the Lower House adopted a Motion of Thanks to  President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the joint sitting of both the Houses, Speaker Om Birla made an announcement in this regard. Mr Birla said, during the Session the Lok Sabha recorded 103 percent productivity. He said, a total of 539 Members took Oath in this session. The session of the Lok Sabha which had convened on 24th of last month, was scheduled to end on Wednesday (3rd July 2024).

Lok Sabha adjourned sine die

Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die after passing the Major Port Authorities Bill, 2020 yesterday. Speaker Om Birla announced the culmination of the 4th session of the 17th Lok Sabha. <br />''<br />''He thanked every member of the house for following the COVID-19 related protocol in letter and spirit. Mr. Birla highlighted that the productivity of Lok Sabha in the 10 day session has been recorded to be the highest till date at 167 per cent. He said, the session was held for 60 hours whereas the allocated time was 37 hours. <br />''<br />''Mr. Birla informed that replies to 2 thousand 300 unstarred questions were also provided in this session by the lower house whereas 370 questions were raised during the Zero Hour. He added that under rule 377 , members raised 181 questions to which replies will be sent by the ministries concerned within next one month.<br />'' <br />''Both the houses of parliament were adjourned sine die yesterday, leading to the culmination of the Monsoon session. The session was scheduled to go on till 1st October but it was curtailed due to COVID concerns. The 4th session of 17th Lok Sabha and the 252nd session of the Rajya Sabha were marked by several novel features induced by the outbreak of coronavirus.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Both the House had to function from different locations, including chambers of both the houses and galleries. The parliament also functioned on Saturday and Sunday of the last week without taking the usual break. <br />''<br />''The MPs attended the session for 10 consecutive days. In these proceedings both the houses passed a total of 25 Bills each. The Upper House recorded a productivity of 100.47 per cent whereas Lok Sabha registered productivity of 167 per cent.</span>

Lok Sabha adjourned sine die

<span style="color: #222222;">The Lok Sabha has been adjourned sine die before its scheduled time in view of the Novel Corona virus or COVID-19 outbreak. The sittings of the house were curtailed by nine days. Earlier, the house was scheduled to sit till 3rd of next month during the second part of the Budget Session of Parliament. The decision was taken by Lok Speaker Om Birla after holding consultation with the floor leaders of the various parties. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' In his valedictory address, Mr Birla said that during the Budget session which began on 31st of January with the address of President Ram Nath Kovind, as many as 16 legislations were introduced and 13 bills were passed. He said, during the period the sittings were spread over 109 hours. Mr Birla said, the house also sat over 21 hours more than the scheduled time to conduct the business. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> <br />''<br />''Earlier, the Lower House expressed gratitude to those engaged in essential services including doctors, police personnel and media people who are in the frontline of the battle against Corona virus. The house also expressed grief over the death of 17 personnel of security forces in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh in Naxal attack. The members also observed two minute silence as mark of respect to them. </span><br />

After adopting the resolution and a Bill related to Jammu and Kashmir, Speaker Om Birla made an announcement in this regard. <br />''<br />''In his valedictory address, the Speaker termed it the most productive session since 1952. He said the Budget session of the Lok Sabha had 37 sittings and sat for 280 hours. <br />''<br />''The Speaker said productivity of the House remained 125 per cent. He said in this session, the House passed as many as 36 Bills which is more than the Bills passed in 1952. <br />''<br />''He said the session did not witness any obstruction during the period and thanked the members for their cooperation.<br />''<br />''The Budget session of the Lok Sabha which was scheduled to end on 26th July was extended till 7th of this month.</span><br />

Lok Sabha adjourned Sine Die

The Lok Sabha has been adjourned Sine Die. The Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said this session had 19 sittings which lasted 71 hours. She said during these period, the House passed Supplementary Demands for Grants (General) and Demands for Excess Grants (General).<br/><br/>She said during this monsoon session, 17 Bills were introduced and 14 Bills were passed. Ms Mahajan said nearly 30 hours were wasted due to disruption. She, however, said the House sat over 10 hours extra to discuss matters of public importance.<br/><br/>After the Question Hour and papers were laid the Speaker adjourned the House Sine Die.

Lok Sabha adjourned sine die

Lok Sabha has been adjourned sine die today. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has described the second part of the Budget session as productive and constructive. She said during the session, 24 bills were introduced out of which 23 were passed by the Lok Sabha. The Speaker said over eight hours were wasted due to disruptions during the session but the members sat 28 hours and 40 minutes extra to dispose of the urgent government business.<br/><br/>The legislations which have been passed include, four GST Bills, Payment of Wages( Amendment) Bill, the Specified Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Bill, the Maternity Benefit (Amendment Bill) Bill, the Enemy Property ( Amendment and Validation) Bill, the Mental Health Care Bill and the Motor Vehicles ( Amendment) Bill.
