Lok Sabha adjourned for the day

Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day after disruptions over the demand for an apology from the Congress member for threatening the Union Minister Smriti Irani during the post-lunch session. After resuming post-lunch session, the Lower House witnessed noisy scenes. <br />'' <br />'' Soon after resumption, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi requested the Congress member to tender unconditional apology for his unruly behaviour during the Zero Hour while Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani was addressing.<br />'' <br />'' Chairperson Meenakshi Leikhi asked the Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhury to request the member for tendering his unconditional apology. <br />'' <br />'' Mr. Ranjan told that he was not in the house when the incident took place and cannot comment on the issue. The house was adjourned for one hour to discuss among the members to sort out the issue.

Lok Sabha adjourned for the day

Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day after paying tributes to its sitting member from Aska, Ladu Kishore Swain. Mr Swain, a Biju Janata Dal MP from Odisha,  passed away today at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 71. He was a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from 2004 to 2009 and elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in May 2014.<br />''<br />

Lok Sabha adjourned for the day

The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day over uproar by Congress members. As soon as the House reassembled at 3 PM, the Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia raised the issue of levelling allegations against him by three BJP MPs about alleged discrimination against dalits. <br/><br/>Mr Scindia termed the allegations as baseless and an attempt to tarnish his public image built during last 15 years of his public life. He said, if the allegation made against him is found true then he is ready to resign from the House. <br/><br/>Mr Scindia said otherwise all there members; namely, Virendra Kumar, Manohar Utawal and Nand Kumar Chauhan must be asked to resign and tender apology. Mr Scindia faced strong opposition from the treasury benches. <br/><br/>Mr Scindia and his party members trooped into the well and heated exchanges of words took place between Congress members and members from ruling parties. Speaker of the House Sumitra Mahajan intervened and tried to pacify the agitating members and sought their cooperation to conduct listed business. <br/><br/>Congress MP Mallikarjun Kharge also expressed concern over the charges leveled against Scindia and said it is not porper to tarnish the image of a young leader. <br/><br/>Responding to Mr Kharge's allegation, Mr Kumar said, the government is willing to run the House properly with the cooperation of all and ready to discuss any issue. <br/><br/>He said, the Congress has no moral right to teach lessions to the NDA on Parliamentary democracy. Amidst the ruckus, Human Resource Development Minister Pakash Javadekar moved the Indian Institutes of Information Technology ( Amendment) bill,2017 in the House. <br/><br/>The Congress members did not allow the Minister to speak on the bill and trooped into the well raising slogans. Amidst the uproarious scene, the Speaker adjourned the House for the day.

Lok Sabha adjourned for the day

The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day today following ruckus in the house on different issues. Earlier it faced two adjournments in the pre-lunch session. When the House assembled at 1 PM, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan allowed Sougata Roy of TMC to raise the issue. Mr Roy accused the government of misusing the CBI for its political purposes. At the same time, the treasury bench members also raised some issues to counter the opposition. <br/><br/>Congress members shouted slogans in the well. Amidst the din, the Speaker adjourned the house till Monday. Earlier, she disallowed the adjournment motions moved by the opposition parties including Congress ,RJD and TMC on various issues. Speaker ruled that though these issues are important but not essential to suspend the proceedings of the House. Amid pandemonium, the papers were laid in the House. <br/><br/>Finance minister Arun Jaitley moved the Specified Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities ) Bill 2017 to provide in the public interest for the cessation of liabilities on the specified bank notes. Labour and Employment minister Bandaru Dattatreya introduced the Payment of Wages (Amendment) Bill 2017 after moving to withdraw the Payment of Wages Amendment Bill 2016.

Lok Sabha adjourned for the day

The Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day amid uproar by opposition members on different issues. As soon as the House met for the day, Congress and TMC members wanted suspension of the Question Hour to discuss other issues. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan did not allow the members to raise their issues. <br/><br/>Trinamool Congress members trooped into the well of the House shouting slogans and showing placards to protest the arrest of their party MPs Sudip Bandopadhya and Tapas Pal. Congress members were also in the well of the House shouting slogans. In the din, Speaker adjourned the House till noon.

Lok Sabha adjourned for the day

Proceedings in both the Houses of Parliament were disrupted amidst noisy scenes by several members on various issues including the JPC report on 2G spectrum allocation, Telangana and training of Sri Lankan Navy personnel in India. The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day while the Rajya Sabha till 2 PM.
In the Lok Sabha, members from several parties again rushed to the well of the house as soon as it met after the first adjournment.
Members were displaying placards demanding action against the accused in the Muzaffarnagar violence and CBI inquiry into the Chit Fund scam in West. Members from Andhra Pradesh also trooped into the well of the House, raising slogans and carrying placards of Save Andhra Pradesh. Normalcy was restored in the House briefly when Speaker Meira Kumar referred to the notices for moving No-Confidence Motion against the government by some members from Andhra Pradesh. Later, she adjourned the House for the day as members again rushed to the well. As soon as the Rajya Sabha met after the first adjournment, Ravi Shankar Prasad of the BJP protested against the reported changes made in the dissent note given by him in the JPC report on 2G spectrum allocation. The issue was raised when the JPC report was tabled in the House. Leader of the opposition Arun Jaitley sought a ruling from the Chair questioning whether JPC Chairman has the powers to change the
content of the dissent note. Responding to this, Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said the Chair cannot comment as he has not gone through the report. This led to furore and BJP members trooped into the well raising slogans against the government. Two TDP members also rushed to the well opposing the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Taking note of the situation, Deputy Chairman, P J Kurien adjourned the House till 2 PM.
