The Lok Sabha witnessed repeated adjournments before being adjourned for the day over the issue of price rise and rail fare hike. As soon as the House assembled for transacting business at 2 pm, Congress and TMC demanded discussion on the issue under adjournment motion. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said that she may allow short duration discussion under other rules of Lok Sabha proceedings. Intervening in the matter, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that price rise is an important issue and the government is ready for a discussion but under which rule, the discussion can be taken up, is to be decided by the Speaker. The Opposition members remained adamant for a discussion under adjournment motion and amidst the din, the Speaker had to adjourn the House for the day.

Earlier, the House witnessed two adjournments on the same issue.
