The Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day after paying obituaries to the former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Digvijay Singh who was the sitting member of the House and a former member Ram Sagar. They died during the inter session period of the Parliament. Paying rich tributes of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat the Speaker Mrs. MeiraKumar described him as an astute administrator, a distinguished legislator and a committed votary of humanitarian values. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat passed on the 15th of May this year at Jaipur at the age of 87. Tributes were also paid to Digvijay Singh and Ram Sagar. The House also paid homage to the martyrs of the Kargil war on the 11th anniversary on Monday of the Indian victory in the conflict. They also paid homage to the CRPF personnel and the villagers who were killed in Chattisgarh in various incidents in Maoist violence. The House also condemned these dastardly attacks which Mrs. Meira Kumar said are aimed at disturbing peace and creating chaos in the country. Homage was also paid to the victims of the tragic aircrash of an Air India Express plane outside Manglore airport in Karnataka which 158 people were killed, the train accidents in which 148 people were killed after suspected Naxalites derailed the Mumbai bound Ganaishwari Express and an another rail accident at Santhia station in Bibhum district of West Bengal. The House also stood in silence for a while as a mark of respect to the memory of departed after which the House was adjourned.
