Lohri is celebrated in Punjab and Haryana

In Punjab and Haryana, Lohri is being celebrated today. The festival marks the end of winter season on the last day of Paush and beginning of Magha, when the Sun changes its course. Lohri has a special significance in Punjab. Farmers celebrate Lohri so that their crops lead to a good harvest after cold weather which is healthy for wheat. For those who had been recently married or blessed with a child, First Lohri is full of excitement mixed with traditional dances of Punjab -Gidha and Bhangra.<br/>
