<span style="color: #222222;">As Kerala continues to effectively contain COVID-19 infection in the State, the role of local self-government bodies especially Panchayats in the process, is making the World, look back at the Kerala model of containment.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR Correspondent reports, the Local Self-Government bodies are the pillars of Kerala 's multi-pronged strategy in the battle against COVID-19. The Panchayats, Municipalities, Corporations are entrusted with the task of collecting information, spreading awareness, identifying the vulnerable sections, ensuring quarantine and lockdown guidelines being followed, cleaning and disinfecting the public places, ensuring the availability  of masks, sanitizers and essential commodities. They are the pillar of community kitchens in the state ensuring no one remains hungry. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Local bodies play major role in ensuring that destitutes, migrant labourers and other vulnerable sections are not being left out. When some Panchayat like Vadakkekara encouraged vegetable farming at home promoting good food, the Thanneermukkom Gram Panchayat in Alappuzha came up with a novel idea of using umbrellas to ensure social distancing. When Panchayats in Kollam decided to give financial and medical help for poor patients during lockdown, the Panchayat Department in Kasaragod is planning to compile people's memories and experiences during the COVID-19 days in the form of a book titled 'Ezhuthola'. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The enormous initiatives like these, from the local bodies across the state are instilling hope and resilience in Kerala's COVID-19 fight. </span><br />''  <br />
