Third and final phase of local elections in Nepal has been completed peacefully. <br/><br/>Polling was held today in province 2 for 136 local bodies. Our correspondent reports that 73 percent voters exercised their franchise to elect 6627 local representatives.<br/><br/>It was a historic day for the people of Nepal. Voters of Tarai were enthusiastic to participate in local elections held after 20 years. <br/><br/>A large number of voters, both male and female turned out to exercise their franchise. 116 years old Bhairava Bahadur Damai and same age Sarvasiya Devi Yadav also casted their votes. <br/><br/>Successful completion of local elections is a significant step towards strengthening democracy in Nepal. As per the new constitution it is necessary to complete, local, province and parliament elections by January 21 next year. <br/><br/>Now all eyes will be on provincial and parliamentary elections to be held in two phases on November 26 and December 7.
