The Congress today said, the party has given interest free loan to Associated Journals Ltd for a political purpose to promote the idelogy of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawarharlal Nehru. Briefing media in New Delhi, Party General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi dismissed the allegation of Janata Party Chief Subramanian that the party had violated Income Tax Laws by entering into a commercial deal. He said promoting the idelogy of Party leaders is a political purpose.
Criticising the opposition BJP, Mr. Dwivedi said no other party can decide what political work the Congress should undertake. Saying the party have done political dharma by giving loan to Associated Journals, Mr. Dwivedi said whatever the challenge the party will contest against it.
Our correspondent reports, Mr. Swamy today tweeted that he has decided to approach Election Commission to derecognise Congress for providing a 90 crore rupees loan to a company that published the now-defunct National Herald newspaper.
