Livestock insurance schemes being implemented in various states: Govt

The government today said that department of animal husbandry and fisheries is implementing Livestock insurance schemes in various states in the country for fishermen. Replying to questions in the Lok Sabha, Agriculture minister Radhamohan Singh said, the scheme is implemented in all the districts of the country from the 21st of May, 2014. Mr Singh said Livestock insurance scheme is applicable in the entire country including drought affected states.<br/><br/>The minister said the insurance coverage is two lakh rupees against death or permanent total disability. Mr Singh also informed the House that the availability of fodder and water for Livestock in drought affected states are provided by the states in cattle camps under state disaster response fund.
