Senior Military leader in the United States Mike Mullen has warned that lives could be put at risk if the whistle blowing website WikiLeaks goes ahead with the further release of secret Government files. WikiLeaks is expected to publish thousands of memos sent by the State Department. According to reports from Washington, WikiLeaks has not said when these leaks would be made public. But the American Government believes the release is imminent. Officials told BBC that the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had been telephoning her international counterparts and all US embassies pre-emptively briefed foreign Governments about what to expect from the potentially sensitive internal communications. In London, Prime Minister's spokesman confirmed that the US Ambassador in Britain has briefed Downing Street but he refused to speculate on the likely contents of the leaks.
