World number-1 Liu Shiwen has been knocked out of the Asian qualifiers for this year's Olympics. The world number one went down Doo Hoi Kem from Hong Kong in the first round of the tournament. However, this does not necessarily mean that Liu Shiwen will be left off the roster for Rio. She will have one more shot at making the team in a 2nd batch of qualifiers. The 25-year old from Liaoning is a three time world champion, and has been widely expected to take gold at the forthcoming Games. Under the Olympic rules for Table Tennis, only two players can represent each division from one country.
