Income Tax Department is conducting searches at the premises of businessman and Liquor baron Ponty Chadha in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The Directorate of Criminal Investigation of Income Tax raided 17 places belonging to the liquor baron across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh including his multiplexes in Noida and sprawling farm house in Chattarpur spread over 13 acres.

Ponty Chadha is the Sole liquor distributor in Uttar Pradesh. AIR correspondent reports, that Income Tax sources said that each bottle sold in UP is priced above Maximum Retail Price. His close aide Lalit kapoor alias Sweety, who handles money for the group has also been raided. His Punjab operations have also come under the scanner.

The Income Tax Department is also looking into the flow of money coming in from UAE that is reflected in the books of the group.
