The number of lions in the Gir National Park in Gujarat has gone up to 523. Their last count was 411 in 2010. <br/><br/>Minister for Environment and Forests Prakash Javadekar said this in the Lok Sabha today. In a written reply, he informed the House that ten lions have died because of excessive rain and flood in the surrounding areas of the sanctuary.
