In Bihar, 28 people including five women and two school girls were killed and twenty injured critically when lightening struck several parts of the state. In Kaimur, the worst hit was the hilly Chainpur area which saw as many as 16 deaths. Twelve causalities were reported from Patna and Rohtash districts of the state. Most of the victims were labourers. AIR Patna correspondent reports that the state government has announced rupees one lakh ex-gratia to the next of the kin of victims.
