Light to moderate rain has brought down temperature in many parts of north India. Temperatures went down by several notches after rain occurred in the plains of Punjab and Haryana. Rain and thunder shower in different parts of Uttar Pradesh have brought down temperature on Friday giving people some respite from scorching heat. AIR correspondent reports that the Met Department has predicted rain and thunder shower in different parts of state in the next 24 hours. Several parts of Himachal Pradesh were also lashed by moderate rain resulting in marginal fall in temperature. Meanwhile, south-west monsoon is making smooth progress and is likely to remain active at least for the next two weeks. The southern peninsula, where the monsoon is active ever since its onset on May 29, has received excess rainfall barring Marathwada region which has received normal downpour. Several parts of Mumbai continued to receive rains today. The rain, which started early on Thursday morning, continued intermittently all through Friday as a constant drizzle with a few heavy showers.
